A/N: Some very random inspiration that came to me a week after having reread Freefall Romance.
Summary: The older Nanase, Youichi, introduces his boyfriend Tsutsumi to the younger Nanase, Kouichi. Heiji just happens to be there to chuckle along.

So Much for ‘Girlfriend’

“Wait, so this is the girlfriend you’ve been hiding from me?” Kouichi said, pointing at Tsutsumi, who gave a casual wave from the doorway…and was clearly not a girl but a handsome man around the same age as his brother. From behind Kouichi, Heiji gave a small muffled snort of laughter.

Youichi, ignoring Heiji, glanced over his shoulder as if to double-check that Tsutsumi hadn’t magically become a woman in the few seconds since they’d entered the foyer of the Nanase residence. But Tsutsumi shifted his wave from the younger Nanase to the older Nanase, who appeared very pale for a brief moment.

“Y-Yeah…” Youichi nodded, cheeks tinting the slightest shade of pink as he turned back to his little brother. “His name is-”

“Tsutsumi Renji.” Tsutsumi held out his hand and Kouichi quickly took it in his own. “Nice to meet you, Kouichi-kun. So you’re the rumored little brother.”

“That’s me, Tsutsumi-san. Nice to meet you too.” Kouichi smiled as if he had just been reminded of a private joke. “And you’re the one who’s been taking care of my bro.”

Tsutsumi laughed lightly. “I try.”

Kouichi gestured at Heiji as he put his arm around Kouichi’s waist. “This is my kouhai and boyfriend, Heiji.”

Heiji outstretched his hand this time and Tsutsumi shook it. “Nice to meet you, Tsutsumi-san.”

“Nice to meet you too.”

Youichi shifted his feet uncomfortably. “Well, now that we’ve exchanged our pleasantries, Tsutsumi-san and I will be heading out.”

“Okay,” Kouichi said, still smiling almost mockingly at his older brother. “When will you be home?”

“I-I don’t know.”

“I’ll try to bring him back to you by tomorrow morning or so,” Tsutsumi cut in with a wide grin. Youichi furrowed his brow at the hand that had appeared on his shoulder.

“Ah.” Kouichi smiled even wider. “Do you mind if Heiji stays the night then, bro?”

Youichi frowned a little, tightening his grip on the strap of his overnight bag. “Hn.”

“Alright, see you tomorrow then!” Kouichi said brightly as the two men began making their way out. When he thought Youichi wasn’t looking, he motioned at Tsutsumi to lean in. “Take good care of him tonight, too, okay?” he whispered to him with a small wink. Tsutsumi laughed.

“Tell the same to your boyfriend, ne?” he whispered back, and Kouichi’s cheeks dusted pink for an instant.

“What is it?” Youichi asked over his shoulder.

“Nothing, nothing, Nanase-san,” Tsutsumi insisted, and they continued out the door. Kouichi waved as it closed quietly behind them.

He spun around to face Heiji. “So it looks like we have the night to ourselves.”

They smiled mischievously at each other before leaning forward to meet their lips. Just as they touched, the door opened again and Youichi poked his head in.

“Um, uh…” He looked away as the two boys turned to him; Kouichi’s arms had already fastened around Heiji’s neck. “Remember to lock the door, Kouichi.”

“Yeah, I got it.” Kouichi grinned at his older brother again as Youichi took one last look at both boys before shutting the door behind himself. Kouichi chuckled when he could swear he heard Youichi’s footsteps on the pavement as he hurried to catch up to Tsutsumi.

He faced Heiji again. “Now, where were we?”

“I believe we were busy with this, sempai…” Heiji murmured, tilting Kouichi’s head back slightly and kissing him. They smiled against each other’s lips in anticipation, and then the sempai led his kouhai to his bedroom by the hand.

The door shut with an audible click.

“That wasn’t so hard, was it?” Tsutsumi commented when Youichi reached his side.

“I’m grateful.”

“Your little brother seems like a good kid.”

“He is,” Youichi agreed, nodding.

“…Have you realized that both of you are bottoms?” Tsutsumi said with a grin as he fiddled with the cigarette between his lips.

Youichi gave a look of surprised realization. When he regained his composure, he smacked Tsutsumi’s shoulder.

“Ow!” Tsutsumi exclaimed as pain shot through the top of his arm. “Hey, wait! Nanase-san!”

Youichi trudged forward at a faster pace, but then he slowed.

“I could, you know, try…topping.” He said the last word quietly, unsurely.

“W-Would you like to?” Tsutsumi asked, slightly taken aback.

“I-I don’t know. Maybe.”

“Okay,” Tsutsumi agreed, kissing Youichi lightly on the cheek. “If you want to, we can.” He pulled a cigarette from one of his pockets and handed it to Youichi, who placed it between his lips. He leaned forward, using Tsutsumi’s to light his own.

The rest of the way to Tsutsumi’s place was quiet, filled only with the gentle sounds of night.

A/N: Sorry if the Nanase brothers were confusing. When I sat down to write this, I didn’t realize how similar the brothers’ given names were D: Despite this being written for a rather, err, obscure fandom, I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!
